The Market has Opened Strong

The market has opened on a strong note on Tuesday. The Sensex is up 168.00 points or 0.6 percent at28070.66 and the Nifty is up 46.10 points or 0.5 percent at 8653.55. About 602 shares have advanced, 160 shares declined, and 33 shares are unchanged.

ICICI Bank, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, GAIL and Tata Motors are gainers while Bharti is loser.

The Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 67.13 per dollar versus previous close 67.17.

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,827 up 45 points

At 9:15 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,827 up 45 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,584 up 11 points.

The rupee opened lower by 12 paise at 67.14/$ against US Dollar Monday as against the previous close of 67.05/$.

Asian markets are trading mixed. Nikkei 225 is trading in green, while Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng are trading lower.

Investors are still trying to make sense and understand the implications of US Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's speech on Friday. At Jackson Hole, she said the case for a rate hike was strengthening thereby re-echoing the views of other Fed officials.

Top News with Top Calls

The 50-share NSE Nifty started off September series on a positive note, holding the 8600 level on support from banks and Tata Group stocks. Investors waited for speech by Federal Reserve chief Janet Yellen at Jackson Hole tonight.

The index was up 22.15 points at 8614.35 and the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 65.57 points at 27901.48.

Tata Motors was the biggest gainer, up 1.5 percent ahead of quarterly earnings later today.

Lupin gained over a percent on approval from the US health regulator for Paroxetine extended release tablets.

The Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 67.02 per dollar versus previous close of 67.05.

The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,118 up 58 points

At 9:31 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,118 up 58 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,670 up 20 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.49% at 13,082 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.49% at 12,576.

Cipla, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto, ITC, TCS, Lupin, Hero MotoCorp, Sun Pharma and Asian Paints  are among the gainers, whereas Wipro, Infosys, Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel, NTPC and HDFC are losing sheen on BSE.

Some buying activity is seen in pharma, FMCG, oil and gas, banking, auto and utilities sectors, while telecom sector is showing weakness on BSE.

The INDIA VIX is down 1.27% at 13.3125. Out of 1,826 stocks traded on the NSE, 415 declined, 984 advanced and 427 remained unchanged today.

A total of 46 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while five stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Stock Market Trading Tips | Free Calls

At 9:31 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,013 up 23 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,634 up mere two points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.43% at 13,001 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.25% at 12,465.

Maruti Suzuki, Infosys, ONGC, NTPC, Cipla, RIL and Bajaj Auto are among the gainers, whereas Lupin, Bharti Airtel, HUL, ITC, TCS and Coal India are losing sheen on BSE.

The market was marginally lower | Top Calls

The market was marginally lower in early trade with the Sensex struggling below 28000 level amid consolidation. Investors waited for speech by the Federal Reserve Chief Janet Yellen at Jackson Hole.

The Sensex was down 32.64 points at 27952.90 and the Nifty declined 16.20 points at 8612.95. NTPC and HPCL fell 1-2 percent after first quarter earnings announced yesterday evening.

HDFC, Reliance Industries, L&T, Lupin and Sun Pharma were under pressure whereas Infosys, Asian Paints, Adani Ports, TCS and Wipro gained.

The Indian rupee has opened higher by 7 paise at 67.12 per dollar against previous close of 67.19 a dollar.

Opening Bell | Top News | Super Calls

At the time of Opening, the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 12.55 points at 28064.45 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 4.50 points to 8662.40.

Adani Ports topped the buying list, up 2 percent followed by ITC, HDFC, HDFC Bank, HUL and Reliance Industries whereas TCS, Lupin and Tata Steel fell over a percent. The government on Saturday evening appointed Urjit Patel as new RBI governor. Raghuram Rajan's term as a governor will end on September 4.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 13 paise at 67.19 per dollar today against Friday's closing value of 67.06 a dollar.

The market is sluggish with the Sensex down 30.60 points

The market is sluggish with the Sensex down 30.60 points or 0.1 percent at 28092.84. The Nifty is down 4.50 points at 8668.75. About 1338 shares have advanced, 820 shares declined, and 146 shares are unchanged.

SBI, Asain Paints, NTPC, BHEL and Cipla are top gainers while Coal India, TCS, Bharti, HDFC and Axis Bank are losers in the Sensex. SBI associates State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Mysore and State Bank of Travancore are on a rise afeter swap ratio was announced last evening.

Brent crude held firmly above USD 50 a barrel in Asian trade today as a bullish momentum continued, fuelled by hopes of an output freeze by key producers and data showing robust US demand.

The market has opened in green with the Sensex down 37.51 points or 0.1 percent at 28027.10. The Nifty is down 14.10 points or 0.2 percent at 8628.45. Stock Market Latest Updates | Top Calls

The Sensex is down 33.39 points at 28119.01 and the Nifty is down 12.90 points or 0.1 percent at 8659.25. About 957 shares have advanced, 1284 shares declined, and 103 shares are unchanged.

Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Infosys, BHEL and Sun Pharma are laggards while Adani Ports, Cipla, NTPC, ITC and ONGC are gainers in the Sensex.

Oil prices eased but held above USD 45 a barrel as the market weighed the possibility of major producers reaching an agreement to freeze output during a meeting next month.

Members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) as well as non-members are scheduled to meet informally in Algeria in September, and Saudi Arabia's oil minister Khalid al-Falih has hinted that discussions could include actions to stabilise prices.

RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan left | Top Morning Calls


At 9:15 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,125 up 40 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,687 up mere eight points.

RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan left the benchmark repo rate unchanged on Tuesday. The RBI kept the repo rate, the key rate at which the central bank lends money to commercial banks, at 6.5 per cent. Retail inflation in June was 5.77 per cent, well above the 5 per cent target set by the central bank for March 2017.

Asian markets are trading mixed. Hong Kong's Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite are marginally up.The Nikkei 225 is trading in red.

The market has opened flat

The market has opened flat as investors prepare for Raghuram Rajan's last monetary policy review in few hours. Outgoing governor Raghuram Rajan is not expected to tinker with rates as he presents his last monetary policy today. According to a CNBC-TV18 poll shows attention has moved from rates to liquidity, 70 percent of the respondents expect him to keep liquidity at current excess.

The Sensex is down 11.07 points at 28171.50, and the Nifty is down 6.70 points at 8704.65. About 508 shares have advanced, 327 shares declined, and 40 shares are unchanged.

Lupin, Tata Motors, ONGC, M&M and Coal India are top gainers while Bajaj Auto, TCS, Hero MotoCorp, Reliance and Infosys are losers in the Sensex. Idea is down 4 percent post Q1 results.

The Indian rupee opened flat at 66.84 per dollar versus previous close 66.84.

Nifty hits 8700, Sensex up over 100 pts

The market has opened higher on Monday. The Nifty has opened at new 52-week high with the 50-share index up 26.95 points or 0.3 percent at 8710.10 and the Sensex is up 113.53 points or 0.4 percent at 28191.88. About 409 shares have advanced, 101 shares declined, and 37 shares are unchanged.

Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, Adani Ports, M&M and Maruti are top gainers while Infosys, GAIL, TCS and Bharti Airtel are losers in the Sensex. Wockhardt is down 12 percent.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 8 paise at 66.85 per dollar on Monday versus previous close 66.77. Dollar gained ground versus the yen amid the bigger-than-estimated increase in American payrolls.

Top Calls for Traders and Investers


The market has opened on a strong note after GST Bill was today approved by the Rajya Sabha to replace a raft of different state and local taxes with a single unified value added tax system to turn the country into world's biggest single market.

The Sensex is up 131.39 points or 0.5 percent at 27828.90, and the Nifty up 40.55 points or 0.5 percent at 8585.40. About 707 shares have advanced, 125 shares declined, and 21 shares are unchanged.

The market has opened flat

The market has opened flat with subdued global cues. The Sensex is up 12.99 points at 28016.11 and the Nifty is up 2.20 points at 8638.75. About 526 shares have advanced, 225 shares declined, and 53 shares are unchanged.

Sun Pharma, Maruti, Lupin, SBI and L&T are top gainers while ICICI Bank, HDFC, Infosys, Wipro and Hero are among losers in the Sensex.

The Indian rupee opened marginally lower at 66.78 per dollar versus previous close 66.74.

The dollar maintained gains against the yen. The dollar, however, did pare some gains after data showed that the US economy's manufacturing sector in July expanded at a slower pace than in the previous month.
